Vehicle owner tracing services

Our tracing services identify the registered keeper of a vehicle where there is a documented, lawful reason to do so. The five areas below account for the instructions we accept. Each page explains the evidence we will ask for, the limits of what we can do and the reasons for which we will decline.

Parking and accident damage

Someone has damaged your parked vehicle or your property and left without giving details. Read more about parking and accident damage.

Hit and run

A driver failed to stop after a collision. We act only after the incident has been reported to the police. Read more about hit and run.

Abandoned vehicles

A vehicle has been left on private land and you need to contact the keeper. Read more about abandoned vehicles.

Solicitors and legal proceedings

A solicitor needs a keeper to be identified to issue, serve or progress a claim. Read more about solicitors and legal proceedings.

Debt recovery

A debt is supported by a judgment or a written agreement and the keeper's identity is needed to enforce it. Read more about debt recovery.

Requests outside these areas

If your reason does not fit one of these headings, you may still submit a request and explain the circumstances. We consider each on its facts and apply the same test: is there a lawful purpose, and is the trace necessary for it? We do not act where the purpose is personal, for example finding a former partner, a relative or anyone who may not wish to be found.

Before you apply

Please read the acceptable use and lawful purpose policy and the how it works page. Fees are explained on the pricing page.
